Lesson Lengths & Frequencies
Lesson lengths range from 30 minutes to 90 minutes in 15 minute increments. Fees depend on lesson length and are priced from £25.
Weekly lessons are recommended. (Fortnightly lessons can be arranged to start prior to 3pm, although there is limited availability for this).
General Info
I offer a complementary, no obligation 30 minute consultation for prospective students with corresponding availability to me. I also provide complementary practice diaries.
For those motivated by exams, I teach up to Grade Eight in Practical Piano, up to Grade Eight in Piano Performance and up to Grade Six in Music Theory from the Associated Board of the Royals Schools of Music syllabus'.
I am a willing Duke of Edinburgh assessor for my students who choose the piano as their skill.
I aim to put on a piano recital for my students annually for those who wish to take part, complete with an awards ceremony.
Face-to-face Lessons
I teach from my home in Lancing on my Yamaha U3H. My home benefits from nearby, free parking. The nearest bus stop is a minute's walk away. Under 18s are welcome to be accompanied. I have measures in place to maintain a clean teaching space. You can find my Covid-19 measures here. I reserve remote lessons for the instance of illness or travel complications preventing face-to-face lessons.
Practice
You will receive a complementary practice diary for you to read your achievable objectives to be practiced for your next lesson and for you to log your practice sessions. Practicing effectively will undeniably reinforce understanding and speed up progress.
While it can't always be done, practicing most days is ideal. Practice lengths increase as your playing becomes more advanced.
Standing Order Payment Plan
A standing order which runs every four weeks for lessons within the following four week period. Lessons continue throughout school holidays. Recommended for continued progression and exam preparation.
Term-time Payment Plan
Monthly direct debit payments for those having weekly lessons during term-time who don’t wish to have lessons during school holidays. A holding fee reserves your usual lesson time for you during the school holidays until the new term begins.
Pay as You Book
A useful way to book if:
-
Your schedule doesn't allow you to commit to an ongoing lesson time
-
You are having lessons only during school holidays as additional support to your term-time curriculum
-
You wish to book lessons in addition to your usual lesson schedule with me
Payments are made in full upon booking.
Acoustic vs. Digital Pianos
I am happy to help choose a suitable acoustic or digital piano for you. New and used acoustic pianos and new digital pianos can be bought locally with finance. An affordable alternative is to purchase a secondhand digital piano, as long as it has weighted keys (to emulate the key size, hammer action and touch sensitivity of an acoustic piano). Digital pianos can have headphones plugged in which can be advantageous.
